The Renewal of Tallinn Children's Hospital Trauma Center

The existing premises of the Tallinn Children's Hospital trauma center need to be expanded and modernized. Therefore, a major reconstruction will be undertaken in the summer of 2021, during which the interior and room arrangement of both the trauma center and the lobby of the clinic will be changed.

The reconstruction of the new trauma center is financed by Tallinn Children's Hospital from its own resources. Tallinn Children's Hospital Foundation contributes to making the premises of the trauma center child-friendly. The design of the new, more spacious rooms of the trauma center is based on child-friendliness, so that a child who has to come to the hospital due to an accident feels comfortable and safe.

Many nature elements, including forest imitation and animal pictures, are used in the design of the new examination rooms and lobby, which will be in calm natural colors. The cozy lobby will have a large aquarium and seating areas with honeycomb-like seats.

50-60 children visit the emergency room of Tallinn Children's Hospital every day, on average about 20,000 children a year. Children aged 7-14 need help the most, accounting for 59% of all trauma center patients. The most common diagnoses are fractures in the lower arm and forearm and head wounds. During the summer, more frequent accidents with children occur when cycling, skateboarding and jumping on a trampoline; in winter sledge accidents are common.

Please support the modernization of the trauma center.
